"I don't know what love is. I've feigned love once before, I thought it was real for a while. But true love is nothing but a lie."Appearance:A slender solid white tom with bright blue eyes.
Personality:When you look at Stonestar, you may see many things. You may see a faithful leader, with an undying love for Mistclan, a cold-hearted warrior, with a fearless will to battle, a merciless sociopath, who would kill just for fun, or maybe just a silent observer, who is simply always watching.
Any of these descriptions could be a match for the patient leader, and possibly many more could join them as well. He's stubborn and manipulative and never trusting of anyone else, but he wasn't always this way.
It was his rocky past that shaped the tom into the broken cat he is today, and it is the craving for a perfect family that pushes him off the edge of sanity. He wishes so deeply to fill the gaping hole in his heart that has only grown bigger since the day he found out the truth.
But that's another story.
Stonestar doesn't take the word love lightly. So many times in his life he's loved that the word doesn't even make any sense to him anymore. He's loved his father and his sister and the entire Smokeclan before his heart was torn. Now he only loves Mistclan, but not completely. He doesn't even love himself.
He's a quiet tom, with a heart made of stone. He doesn't let others in or confide in anyone but the voices. He finds it hard to smile, or engage in anything remotely 'fun'. He's calculating and manipulative and is all about the battle plan. He is a work-a-holic of sorts, and simply chooses to reign over his clan with a silent wrath. He only speaks when it calls for it, and doesn't make a burden of himself. When he isn't needed, he isn't there.
Stonestar is one to enjoy the pain of others, and is a sort of sadistic leader. If another clan wants to go to war, he'll think about it at first, before going straight to the blood-shed. He likes putting his victims through the worst possible torture before killing them. It may be the only time he smiles.
Stonestar is one to dabble a bit in all things 'catnip'. If its there he'll eat it. Its the only way to get all these things off his mind, right?
History:Stonestar's story isn't a short one, or a happy one, or one that'll make you giggle or laugh. It isn't one that's easily forgotten, or one that's easy to hear, it isn't anything but pitiful. It's one that scars a tom that could have been loving, or content.
Or
normal. It is one that runs back many moons, long before the birth of Stonestar, and continues on until this very day. Filled with pain and suffering and gloom.
It all began with two cats. A Mistclan she-cat named Riverbreeze, and a Smokeclan tom named Snowsplash, who had met at a gathering earlier on. Snowsplash was known all around for being one of the best warriors in Smokeclan, only not becoming deputy because he had turned down the position, wanting to put all of his time into training rather than actually leading the clan. His name floated around the forest, and reached the ears of the other clans, making Snowsplash well respected and praised by all around, except one Mistclan she-cat, Riverbreeze. She thought not to acknowledge such frivolous titles, and focused rather on the real high-positions, which Snowsplash didn't mind, and didn't really care too much about.
Until their eyes caught at the gathering, and they were instantly locked. It was 'love at first sight' if you will, and it didn't take long for the pair to find each other in the madness of the gathering and make small talk, out of the eyes of their leaders. They agreed to meet up, scheduling a time when they thought their clans would need them least, and they both anticipated the day that they would be alone. Their feelings for one another were present quickly, and they only grew with each additional day that they met, until finally the skilled Smokeclan warrior awkwardly confessed to loving the Mistclan she-cat, and she replied with the same confession.
'I love you.'They were brilliant words, but they were poisoned as well, the pair coming from two different clans, even though their love brushed over their loyalty and caused them to continue to meet and break the Warrior Code. They knew Starclan wouldn't be happy, but they didn't care, and punishment soon ensued.
Snowsplash, respected warrior, met his match soon when cats began to whisper about him, and suspiciously guessed at his whereabouts whenever he left the clan. They all knew he wasn't possibly "going on a patrol" every single afternoon and brought it to the attention of the leader, who didn't want to dare lose one of his finest warriors. He sent for Snowsplash at once, and although Riverbreeze dashed into the bushes before the Smokeclan cats could catch sight of her, Snowsplash was accused of treason and escorted back to camp.
Snowsplash pleaded not guilty and scoffed at those who began to eye him with disgust. He claimed to love his peers and pledged loyalty to Smokeclan, taking on a mate within the clan to prove himself. His chosen mate was a well skilled warrior like himself, and she was well loved within the clan. She admired Snowsplash for the respected title he had earned, and their togetherness cleared up some of Snowsplash's doubters, although not all. Others continued to watch him and whisper about him and make a big fuss, so it was safe to say he didn't meet up much with his Mistclan mistriss, who he had told about his mate back in Smokeclan and the suspicions everyone had.
And she revealed something of her own.
She was expecting a litter, one that would be of half-clan blood, and she feared for the lives of her children. She knew she needed to keep them safe, and told Snowsplash that they should end it before things got too hectic, and they were caught, even though she still loved him. He unwillingly agreed, and when he pleaded that they continue to meet up Riverbreeze denied him, saying it was far too risky and that she couldn't bring herself to possibly put her children through a terrible life should their secret be uncovered. They said good-bye for what they thought would be the final time.
Back in Smokeclan, more secrets were being revealed as Snowsplash's mate confessed to expecting their first litter. She, and the rest of Smokeclan were ecstatic, and even though Snowsplash tried his hardest to act happy he was really rather depressed, finding it hard to go on without seeing Riverbreeze's happy smiles and or hearing her peal of laughter everyday like before. But still, the unfaithful warrior pushed on through the fog, trying to make the best of his dreary life in Smokeclan, keeping up with his title as one of the best and spending more and more time with his pregnant mate, trying to forget all about Riverbreeze back in Mistclan, which he sometimes managed to do.
However,
she wasn't so lucky and all she could think about was Snowsplash and how he was fairing back in his own clan. She soon became utterly stricken with heartbreak and grief, suddenly leaving her family and friends back in Mistclan without an explanation and beginning the all too familiar trek all the way to Smokeclan territory, where she would hope to convince Snowspalsh to join her in the loner life and raise their family together. She crafted a makeshift nest at the borders of Smokeclan upon her arrival, hoping to fend for herself until her children arrived, and, while on a lone patrol, Snowsplash found his Mistclan mistress shivering in the icy sting of Leaf-Bare. She was sickly and weak and skinny, and it was assumed she had contracted some sort of illness, while out in the cold for so long. At her side was a tiny, solid white tom-kit who was just as weak and feeble as his mother looked, giving him not much time to live. Knowing this the desperate new mother pleaded for Snowsplash to take their only son into Smokeclan to live and grow beside him, making him promise to raise him well and with enough love for the both of them, her heart weakening with every word. He agrees without hesitation but stands firm, not wanting to leave his dieing love behind in the snow even though she tells him to let her go and save their child. He attempts to help her up, but a moving figure in the distance catches the Smokeclan warrior's eye.
Icewater, the medicine cat at the time, was running out to find Snowsplash, her expression urgent as he raced out to meet her halfway, his newborn son laying still in his maw. Icewater informed Snowsplash of the troubles his mate was having with their kits' birthing and that she may not have much time left here with him much to his dismay. Although she did notice the child that Snowsplash carried Icewater said nothing on the matter, she was smart, and knew what was going on, assuring the safety of his secret with a silent nod, and running back into Smokeclan camp to aid his dieing mate.
When Icewater was gone, Snowsplash went back to check on Riverbreeze, who was now missing from her makeshift den in the snow, her scent trail leading off into some nearby bushes. Snowsplash, although heartbroken, hurried back to Smokeclan's camp. He sneaked into the camp with his son in his jaws, and crept into the Medicine Cat's Den. To Snowsplash's surprise it was fairly empty except for a few sleeping patients, his mate, and Icewater. Here he rested his newborn snow-white son beside his newborn milky-furred daughter and wished a teary fare-well to his passing mate. Icewater didn't question where the tom-kit had come from, and Snowsplash didn't offer to tell her, so when she asked him to take his children to the nursery and find a willing queen to help raise them, he simply thanked her and left.
------------------------
They were named by their father, each shaped with love by him. The boy was named Stonekit and the girl, Whitekit. They had both inherited their father's velvety milk fur and it was easy to paint up the lie that they were full siblings, both born from him and his Smokeclan mate, building up his wall of loyalty and diminishing the amount of few doubters that still floated around.
The siblings grew up believing they were litter-mates, like the rest of their clan did, they didn't ever suspect their father of lying to them, and they had no reason to, he showered them in love and protection. Stonekit and Whitekit were good friends, close but not
too close, and they supported each other in whatever it was they were doing. When the short battle including Smokeclan broke out, Stonepaw went in despite his young age to try and prove that he could be just as good a warrior as his father. During the fight he was injured, but not badly. Whitepaw took up the path of the Medicine Cat to help heal him and to assist the aging Icewater, who always seemed to eye Stonepaw strangely. One of Stonepaw's closest friends in the clan, Duskpaw/Duskfall, didn't seem all that thrilled about Whitepaw's new position but Stonepaw let it slide.
It was only after his and his sister's warrior ceremony that Stoneclaw finally found the truth. He frequently caught sight of a wandering loner who roamed the edges of Shadowclan territory. She always seemed to have her eyes on Stoneclaw, and looked as if she desperately wanted something she just couldn't quite reach, as if Stoneclaw owed her something.
Annoyed and curious, Stoneclaw waited for the loner to arrive at the edge of the territory like always, and, perched high in a tree he pounced at her when she made herself seen, catching her by surprise. She was old, and frail and Stoneclaw questioned her right away. She apologized to him and revealed that her name was River. She complimented Stoneclaw with a smile by saying he was a fine young warrior and that his mother would be very proud of him. To that he admitted his mother had died before he could meet her, but that she was also one of the best warriors Smokeclan ever had. Happily, River replied with the facts that his mother wasn't dead yet, and that she once belonged to Mistclan, creeping away before Stoneclaw could question her further.
Back in camp, Stoneclaw questioned everyone he could about Mistclan, hearing many different tales and horrors about the clan that wasn't actually too far away. His father avoided his questions, but Icewater, the medicine cat, seemed rather intrigued by his new-found curiosity and thought the time was right. Having received the full story from Snowsplash and pulling Stoneclaw aside she revealed the truth of his history to him, and the story of his real parents, much to his unhappy shock and disgust about the fact that he was really half-clan. He instantly wanted to tell his beloved sister, but Icewater wouldn't allow it, saying it would 'distract her from her duties'.
Broken, betrayed and baffled, the young warrior left Smokeclan camp in the dark of night, set on finding the clan called Mistclan, and ready to start life over.
------------------------
When he first arrived he wasn't afraid of the possibly hostile cats of Mistclan territory. He was simply hurt by the way his father had kept the truth from him, and the fact that he could have possibly had a chance to meet his actual mother, but he was robbed of that privilege.
He wondered how Whitestep felt, or how she was doing. It pained his heart that he had to leave her, make her worry.
But now he didn't have time to stop and think, there were new problems facing him. To this day Stonestar is still slightly happy by the circumstances that he faced when entering Mistclan, as he didn't have to engage in any fights or squabbles that may have hindered him later on, but the things he was made to go through and feel are what have turned him bitter. As he stalked into Mistclan territory a large, muscular black and white tom blocked the younger ex-smokeclan warrior's path. The new tom looked down on Stoneclaw with judging amber eyes, and his stance was defensive and ready. Stoneclaw knew he couldn't take on a fighter of his advancement, Stoneclaw wasn't nearly as strong looking as this new tom, Stoneclaw was lanky and lean, not very muscular at all. Fearful but composed Stoneclaw told the tom that he came in peace, and that he had heard many things about Mistclan which simply made him curious. The larger tom's stance relaxed and he revealed himself to be Wingstar, the young leader of Mistclan. Stoneclaw put on a smile for his new acquaintance as he was led back to the Leader's Den, he was to have his abilities tested.
'So, Stone... claw, was it? What can you do?'
'I hunt, I climb, I fight-'
'Really? That's hard to believe.'
'...'
'Do you swim, Stoneclaw?'The leader claimed to see potential in Stoneclaw and told him that he'd personally teach him how to swim. Of course, he should learn from the best.
While the leader was caught up in other duties he told Stoneclaw to go and make himself known in Mistclan, but not before asking him about his past. Stoneclaw told him his mother had been from Mistclan, and that he wished to learn more about his heritage, which wasn't entirely untrue. When it came time for Stoneclaw to take on his swimming lesson the leader was very show-offy with his abilities, Stoneclaw however was a natural born swimmer so it didn't really matter, but there was a time during the lesson when Stoneclaw slipped and had to be saved by Wingstar, who was more than happy to still be better than Mistclan's newest warrior. Stoneclaw, thankful, swore he just lost his footing, but Wingstar declared the tom needed more practice and they set up another lesson, which went very well and resulted in no slip-ups in Stoneclaw's case.
It's safe to say that Stoneclaw and Wingstar became 'best friends' of sorts, and it was only a matter of time until Wingstar actually declared having feelings for Stoneclaw. Stoneclaw, seeing a chance to seize power within the clan admitted to the same thing, and, even though he may have felt something for the leader he didn't pursue it enough to make the secret relationship anything other than leading Wingstar on.
Moons dragged on and Stoneclaw had become deputy. He wore his title with pride, and when Wingstar fell ill Stoneclaw's feigned feelings for the leader were pressed. Once Wingstar succumbed to the extensiveness of his sickness Stonestar plunged Mistclan into a new era.
An era of uncertainty.
